Belmont Recovers to Claim Crown BY HERB TOWNSEND ALLENTOWN, PA--The second annual Phoebe Homes Run for the Ages 5K was held on April 16 under a clear sky with temperatures in the mid-40s. Beginning at the entrance of the Phoebe Home, a senior residence near Muhlenberg College, the course proceeded on streets downhill to trails around the pond at Cedar Beach then back up to the home to form a large loop. It was on the initial downhill segment that early leader, Patrick Belmont, missed a turn and ran an extra block before being called back. No matter, the speedy Belmont quickly overtook the pack to regain the lead, and cruise to a win in 15 minutes flat. Despite the extra distance, Belmont still ran less than a full 5K, since the official course appeared to be short by an estimated 0.4 miles. Oldest Finisher 1.
