BY BILL BURD WILLIAMSPORT, PA--The 4th Annual Run for Your Heart 5K was held at 9 a.m. on Monday morning, September 5 (Labor Day). There were a total of 119 participants: 90 runners and 29 walkers. This was the largest crowd to date for the race, growing steadily from 36 runners in attendance for the inaugural race of 2002. The temperature was perfect for running, as it hovered around 60 degrees at the start of the race. The 18:10 course record was broken by the first three runners to finish, led by 34-year-old Jason Fink of Williamsport at 17:57. In fact, only 37 seconds separated the first seven runners across the line. The first female to finish was Melian Boyle of Montoursville in a time of 21:04. The winner of the male walking division was perennial champion Jim Hopper of Bloomsburg at 31:30. The womens champ was Stacey Willits of Jersey Shore at 34:52.
