Morris Win Makes Him Kessler King BY JOHN HARGREAVES HARRISBURG, PA--The 15th Annual Kesslers Nittany Lion Franks 5K Run was held along the banks of the Susquehanna River on a splendid Saturday, April 17. Due to recent high water, the lower level was deemed too slippery to be safe--a misstep would send one into the 50-degree river--so the course was changed to an out-and-back contest along the upper bank. Tadd Morris, who won decisively in 17:09, led 110 runners throughout the race. He was followed by three Masters runners; the first of whom was Barry Dippner of Lancaster County who posted a 17:47. Morris has dominated the Central PA scene of late, winning Octobers Sachs 5K by a similar margin. Anne Nash, en route from Exton to Duncansville, stopped in Harrisburg to easily capture the womens victory. Recovering from an injury, she finished in 19:29, three minutes ahead of 18-and-under winner Caity Fisher. The YMCA, led by Chad Krebs, did its usual fine job of presenting a well-organized race that featured a postrace party complete with the sponsors hot dogs in great quantity. Age-division winners, three deep in nine groups, were given plaques and a pack of Kessler Franks. MALE Overall 1. Tadd Morris 17:09 18 and Under 1. Sean Morgan 23:46 25-29 1.
